I must admit that I get awfully confused when I run into people that make a rather HUGE political statement about their gender. Mostly there are two genders – male and female. I have heard that on the very odd occasion there is something called “HERMAPHRODITE” within the human race. Although there seems to be slim evidence that this actually exists WITHIN the human race! An earthworm is hermaphroditic – by this it is quite evident that an earthworm has BOTH sexes within itself. Plants are hermaphroditic since they too have both “sexes” on the same organism.
When it comes to people that post signs on themselves mentioning that they prefer being referred to as “them/they” leaves me aghast with confusion:
Firstly … how many of them are there in that one body??
Secondly … if you are embarrassed being a him or a her, then say so. People are generally very forgiving if the truth of a situation is revealed.
